Obi Toppin will participate in this year’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest, per NBA Insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Toppin’s high-flying athleticism was on display throughout his time as a Flyer, and he is regarded as “one of the best dunkers in college basketball history.”

The New York Knicks took him with the eighth overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, and Toppin will make his All-Star Weekend debut in his first year in the league. He joins an exclusive list of rookie participants in the dunk contest.

This year, All-Star Weekend has been condensed to one single day due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Dunk Contest will take place during halftime of the All-Star Game on Sunday, March 7.

Toppin is averaging 4.8 points per game in 12.1 minutes per game this season with the Knicks.
