In Wednesday’s 2021 MLS SuperDraft which took place over teleconference, FC Cincinnati selected University of Dayton senior midfielder Jonas Fjeldberg in the second round with the No. 54 overall pick.
During his three seasons at Dayton, the Jessheim, Norway native scored 17 goals, and although he was unable to play a fall 2020 season which was cancelled due to COVID-19, his final season at UD saw Fjeldberg named A10 Offensive Player of the Year and the Flyers team MVP after scoring 11 goals.
Fjeldberg also had 17 assists in his three seasons at UD, and was named to the A10 All-Rookie team in 2017. He is the first Flyer selected since 2017, and the seventh all time.
