Dayton Men’s Basketball to play Xavier in four-team charity exhibition

DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Flyers will face off against the Xavier Musketeers in an outdoor exhibition game on Oct. 7, according to the Dayton athletic website.

The game will be the second of a doubleheader and will be preceded by a match between Ohio State and the University of Cincinnati. Start times are yet to be determined.

These games are part of the inaugural CareSource Invitational Ohio Exhibition, which will be held on the P&G Center Court at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, home of the Cincinnati Open. This event will be the first basketball event at the center following the venue’s $260 million campus expansion, as well as the first major Division 1 preseason outdoor match-up between four rival Ohio teams.

CareSource, the sponsor of the event, is in its fourth year of raising funds and awareness for young adult mental health and suicide prevention through its exhibition games. The invitationals started in 2023 at UD Arena with a game between Ohio State and Dayton, and they have helped CareSource spread their message “It’s ok to not be ok.”

The Flyers’ last meeting with the Musketeers ended in a 98-74 victory for Xavier in their CareSource Spotlight exhibition match on Oct. 20, 2024. This match is one of three exhibition games for Dayton, with another against Notre Dame on Oct. 17, and one that is yet to be announced, according to the University of Dayton athletic website.

In the case of inclement weather, the invitational will be moved to UD Arena. Season ticket holders will receive information on July 13 with information about ticket requests for the exhibition.
