In a selection that surprised many on social media, the Dayton Flyers men’s basketball team was selected to the National Invitational Tournament, where they will face 1 seed Memphis in the First Round in Dallas, Tx.
The Flyers, who finished the season 14-9 with a loss to VCU in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals, join three other A-10 teams (Saint Louis, Davidson and Richmond).
Also of note, Flyers senior guard and scoring leader (18.1 point per game) Jalen Crutcher — a native of Memphis, Tenn. — will face off against his hometown team.
The Flyers will tip-off against the Tigers on Saturday, March 20 at the UNT Coliseum in Denton, Tx., at noon, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
