The Flyer News staff wants to extend our sympathies to Bart’s family and friends.

The university announced that a student passed away on Friday in a campus-wide email.

The student, Bartholomew (Bart) Lennartz, was a 20-year old junior from Vandalia, Ohio. He majored in finance and lived in Marycrest Hall. He was an RA.

Lennartz passed away in his dorm room, and law enforcement officials are working with the county coroner’s office to investigate his death. There is no indication of foul play.

There was a crowded prayer service Friday night in the Immaculate Conception chapel on campus. Attendees were able to write to Bart’s family. Campus ministers were also made available in Marycrest Chapel.

“We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Bart’s family, friends, professors and our campus community,” wrote UD President Eric Spina in the email to campus. Spina also was in attendance at the Friday prayer service.

On his Facebook page, Bart described himself as “Obsessed with stocks and awkward small talks!” It also says he was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed professional business fraternity.
