Dayton Volleyball has been consistently climbing the American Volleyball Coaches Association rankings, currently sitting at No. 18 after a fantastic weekend playing matches in the Frericks Center. The Flyers hosted the Saint Louis University Billikens for an A-10 Conference matchup with a game on Oct. 20 and another on Oct. 21.

Dayton came out on top with a straight-set win over SLU Friday evening. This allowed the Flyers to extend their winning streak to 29 straight sets. All of these sets were Conference games including straight set wins against Loyola Chicago, Fordham, Duquesne, George Mason, Davidson, and now SLU.

On Saturday, the Flyers also came out with the win, this time three sets to one.

Many Flyers had some standout performances throughout the weekend. Junior setter Alyssa Miller, had 32 assists on Friday and 43 on Saturday. Redshirt junior Lexie Almodovar recorded 18 points in Saturday’s match against the Billikens.

The defensive efforts from Karissa Kaminski and Amelia Moore deserve serious recognition as well. Over the two games, sophomore libero Kaminski had 33 digs. Redshirt senior and middle blocker Moore had three blocks on Friday’s 3-set win and eight blocks on Saturday’s 4-set win.

The Flyers Volleyball journey this season is far from over. Over the next three weeks, the Flyers will have their second matchup of the season against Duquesne. Then they will take on George Washington, Rhode Island and Virginia Commonwealth University. A collection of three teams they have not yet faced this season.

The VCU matches will take place in the Frericks Center as the Flyers host the Rams Nov. 10 and Nov. 11. UD will need support and energy in Frericks to close out the regular season against a conference rival so make sure to show up and cheer!
