DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton men’s basketball head coach Anthony Grant has been named the 2026 USA Men’s U18 National Team head coach for that year’s FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup, USA Basketball announced earlier today.
Grant will be joined by assistant coaches Matt Langel, head coach at Colgate, and Nate Oats, head coach at Alabama.
This will be Grant’s third time on the USA Basketball U18 coaching staff for the AmeriCup, but first time as the head coach. He made his first appearance in 2008 as an assistant under coach Bob McKillop en route to a silver medal and his second in 2018, where he was an assistant to Bill Self, winning the tournament that year.
“It is an honor to serve and compete with USA Basketball alongside a great team of players, coaches and staff,” Grant said in the USA Basketball announcement. “We look forward to uniting this summer toward the goal of the FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup gold medal.”
The USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee selected the coaching staff, with the final approval coming from the USA Basketball Board of Directors.
The tournament will run from June 1-7 at a location that will be announced by FIBA in the future.
