UD Libraries’ vision of upholding “an intellectual fulcrum, opening doors, activating scholarship inspiring creativity,” will be implemented through the upcoming Roesch Library renovation.
On Feb. 2, the University of Dayton Board of Trustees approved renovation plans for the first and second floors of the library. The project’s design process began in Spring 2017.

During these planning stages, focus groups were conducted with staff, faculty and students to think critically about the future of the collections, space, services and programs.
Their design will help accommodate the learning needs efficiently for the more than 2,000 people who visit the library each year.
The renovation process will be conducted within two stages. Currently in phase one, that began in January, the west end of the second floor has been closed.
For the duration of phase two, set to begin in Oct. 2018, the entire first floor and lobby will be closed.
