1. 2014 WINTER OLYMPICS OPENING CEREMONIES
The 2014 Winter Games officially kicked off last week at Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi. More than 40,000 were in attendance, and still more gathered to watch on a screen outside the stadium. Former ice hockey player Vladislav Tretiak and figure skating great Irina Rodnina lit the torch, which was followed by fireworks and dazzling performances that showcased Russian culture and history. The 230 members of Team USA marched in, clad in sweaters by Ralph Lauren, who traditionally designs all of the uniforms. The Olympic games will continue until February 23.
2. ‘THE BIGGEST LOSER’ WINNER CRITICIZED
FOR BEING ‘TOO THIN’
Rachel Frederickson, 24, weighed in at 105 lbs. at last week’s finale – down from a starting weight of 260 lbs. Frederickson lost over half of her body weight during her time on the show, and with a new BMI of 17.5, is considered underweight by the National Institutes of Health. Critics are claiming the show has taken weight loss too far.
3. WOODY ALLEN SLAMMED WITH
ALLEGATIONS OF ABUSE
The esteemed Hollywood director’s adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, spoke out last week, claiming that Allen molested her as a child. Allen refuted these claims, stating that Mia Farrow, Dylan’s mother and Allen’s ex-wife, coached her into the accusation.
4. SELENA GOMEZ
REHAB STINT REVEALED
It was revealed last week that Gomez spent two weeks at The Meadows facility in Arizona last month. Reps for the starlet declined to comment on what she was being treated for, but denied any substance abuse and said she entered voluntarily.

FALL 2014 TRENDS
Last Thursday, the most esteemed designers from across the globe began previewing their looks for fall 2014 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The shows took place at Lincoln Center in Manhattan and ended February 13.
