Fall is underway, which means it’s time to bring out the sweaters, cardigans and boots from the closet. But if you’re looking for more ways to get into the fall mood, here’s some ways that you can get into the spooky spirit to make your October the best yet.

Music & Movies

Songs

Of course, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” has instilled the spirit of Halloween into all of us with its music video and classic dance. But if you need to expand your playlist, here are some fun songs that resonate the ambiance of all things Halloween:

  • “Calling All the Monsters” by China Anne McClain
  • “A Nightmare on My Street” by DJ Jazzy & The Fresh Prince
  • “bury a friend” by Billie Eilish
  • “(You’re The) Devil in Disguise” by Elvis Presley
  • “The Purple People Eater” by Sheb Wooley
  • “Spooky, Scary Skeletons” by Andrew Gold
  • “Friends on the Other Side” by Keith David
  • “Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads
  • “Cannibal” by Kesha
  • “Fearless” by Olivia Holt
  • “Halloweentown Theme” by Retrospectre

Nostalgia

You might’ve caught that the last two songs are from the memorable Disney movies, “Halloweentown” and “Girl vs. Monster.” If you want to relive the “Monstober” nostalgia of Disney Channel, here are some film favorites along with some you can find on Disney Plus:

  • “Halloweentown Series”
  • “Twitches”
  • “The Nightmare Before Christmas”
  • “Hocus Pocus”
  • “Frankenweenie”
  • “The Haunted Mansion”

Disney Channel Halloween Episodes

  • Hannah Montana: “Torn Between Two Hannahs” – Season 1, Episode 17
  • Suit Life of Zack & Cody: “Ghost of 316” – Season 1, Episode 19
  • That’s So Raven: “Don’t Have a Cow” – Season 2, Episode 2
  • Wizards of Waverly Place: “Halloween” – Season 3, Episode 2

  • A.N.T. Farm: “mutANT farm” – Season 1, Episode 14

Food & Drinks

If treats and autumn delights are how you get into the mood for fall, here’s some places where you can get all the pumpkin spice you need.

Duck Donuts

Duck Donuts has three donuts for their fall assortment. The top three donuts in the assortment that caught my eye right away were the Apple Cobbler, Apple Pie and Pumpkin Roll. The Apple Cobbler is made with fall favorites like cinnamon sugar, streusel and apple. Their Apple Pie donut is covered in vanilla icing with apple streusel and takes a twist from your normal apple pie by adding salted caramel. The Pumpkin Roll consists of just pumpkin icing with vanilla drizzle. There are many more delicious donuts on their website that you can check out here

Starbucks

The fall drinks are back. Though if hot coffee isn’t your favorite, they have a new iced coffee, the Iced Crisp Macchiato. The flavor of an apple pie is all in one cup of espresso with milk, ice and a caramelized spiced apple drizzle. If iced coffee is too chilly for the fall, they have the Apple Crisp Macchiato hot with brown sugar, apple, espresso, steamed milk and caramelized spiced apple drizzle. Starbucks’ signature cold brew is getting a taste of fall with a topping of pumpkin cream cold foam and pumpkin pie spices. And last but not least, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for the fun fall season.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts is celebrating the fall season with their new fall menu consisting of an Apple Cranberry Refresher, Apple Cranberry Coconut Refresher, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Apple Cider Donut and Maple Sugar Breakfast Sandwich. They also have Maple Sugar Snackin’ Bacon, a small bag with 8 snack-sized strips of bacon covered in maple sugar. You can also get a box of pumpkin-flavored Munchkins. Their Pumpkin Spice can come in hot or iced and if you like their chai lattes you can get one that is pumpkin-flavored. If you have the Dunkin’ Donuts app points can be earned by buying the Pumpkin Donut, the Pumpkin Munchkins, the Apple Cider Donut and more.

Fragrances

If the sweet treats of fall don’t get you excited, perhaps it’s the smell of a bonfire, the toasted marshmallows and the crisp autumn air. Bath and Body Works have their fall line back with some light but wonderful scents to bring the outside inside.

Candles

Vampire Blood, Wicked Apple and Ghoul Friend are the three Halloween candles Bath and Body Works have in store for this season. Vampire Blood is light but very fruity and sweet and Ghoul Friend is light as well with a clean scent. Bath and Body Works also has many pumpkin-scented candles such as Pumpkin Apple, Pumpkin Carving, White Pumpkin and Pumpkin Snickerdoodle. They also have a Salted Butterscotch candle. If you want your home to smell like a cozy bonfire and fresh autumn air, then Autumn Woods and Marshmallow Fireside are right for you.

Since candles are a fire hazard for a dorm, Pumpkin Snickerdoodle, Pumpkin Apple, Marshmallow Fireside, Autumn Woods, Ghoul Friend and Wicked Apple come in fragrance plugs.

Decor

We all love decorating our room and homes with bats, skeletons and cobwebs, but if you’re on a budget here are some of the ways you can add a little bit of decoration to your house or dorm.

Pumpkin Lights

Want to bring a warm feeling to your room? LED Jack-O-Lantern string lights are perfect for the orange glow. The light’s smiling Jack-O-Lanterns gently flicker to create a soft autumn ambiance for your room. If you need decorations for a Halloween party these will work too. The lights are selling on Amazon for $12.99. You can find the lights on Amazon here

Bat Decals

If your walls and windows look bare, try these bat decals. All you have to do is peel off the double-sided tape on the decal and stick it anywhere you want. It’s safe for windows and walls and it’s easy to remove. These decals will bring out your creativity and have your room swarming with bats. The Bat Decals sell for $8.99 on Amazon. You can purchase them here

Halloween Themed Pillow Covers

If your bedroom doesn’t look as festive for the season, or you’re looking to find cute ways to bring the fall inside, Amazon has a pack of four Halloween festive pillowcase designs. The designs include a black case cover with white web designs and a pretty cursive font that reads ‘Happy Halloween.’ There’s a white cover with black star designs that says ‘Spooky’ where the two eyes of a Jack-O-Lantern make the two O’s. Another is a white cover with a black cat and the number three where together they make 31 for October 31. Finally, there is a black case with white designs of cute ghosts flying around with calligraphy font that reads ‘trick or treat’. All these cases come with zippers to make them easy to use. You can find the pillow cases here

With all these ideas on how to kickstart the fall festivities, your Halloween season will be a sweet treat to remember while learning a few tricks along the way.
