Flyer News is bringing back an old tradition – Porch Profiles – except this time, we’re writing in a form any group of roommates can relate to: text chains. DM us @flyernews if you and your roommates are interested in being featured!

FN: How did you all meet?

Grace: I met Miss girl Ashton Hunt during orientation weekend freshman year! I met Claire our sophomore year during recruitment weekend because her rings were pretty, go girl. I met Nadia through [the lovely] Claire and Mady.

Claire: I met Nadia and Mady through mutual friends freshman year. Grace did in fact tell me she liked my rings and we have been friends ever since. I met Ashton through Grace and we have all been roommates since.

Nadia: Yes, Claire and Grace are right. I met Claire through my freshman year roommate and Mady through a mutual friend. Then, Claire introduced us one night to Ashton and Grace for an idea to room all together!

Mady: Yep, exactly how they all said it!

FN: How long have you lived together?

Ashton: This is our second year living together.

Claire: Yeah, we lived in Campus South together last year

Grace: [ We have lived together ] two years now, last year we lived in Campus South and now Stonemill, which we love!

Nadia: Yes, it has been such a fun two years so far!

Mady: [It’s been] Two years going on three!

FN: What’s your favorite thing about living on Stonemill?

Ashton: Our neighbors!! We have met the most kind and outgoing people on Stonemill. Shout out to 305 and 309.

Claire: I agree. I have loved getting to know our neighbors.

Grace: Our neighbors and the location for sure. Stonemill is the best of both worlds and we love every minute of it!

Nadia: Facts! I love our neighbors. They are always including us in things that they are doing which makes this street so fun and filled with community!

Mady: I love the location because it’s such an easy walk to class and pretty much anywhere on campus. And, of course, I also love our neighbors!

FN: If you had to describe yourself in only three words, what would you choose? What words do you think your roommates would choose to describe you?

Ashton: I would describe myself as bold, personable and hard working. I think my roommates would probably describe me as funny, a lot to handle and a solid friend.

Claire: I would describe myself as caring, easy-going and funny. I think my roommates would describe me as easy to talk to, funny and weird.

Grace: I would describe myself as caring, loyal and outgoing. I would say my roommates would describe me as funny, kind and sometimes a bit dramatic lol.

Nadia: I would describe myself as fun, hard-working and honest. I would say my roommates would describe me as fun, emotional and spontaneous.

Mady: I would describe myself as fun, chill and genuine.. I think my roommates would describe me as messy, go with the flow and a little crazy.

FN: What’s your all time favorite memory together?

Ashton: My favorite memory is hands down our dance parties to the Black Eyed Peas.

Claire: My favorite memory is having all my roommates help me pick out what to wear every weekend because I am very picky when it comes to choosing my outfits.

Ashton: ^^^^ this. No joke, it takes a solid 45 minutes every weekend night. We love her for it though.

Grace: I would agree with Ashton here. My favorite memory so far would have to be blasting Black Eyed Peas and all dancing together last year in Campus South. It’s the times when things happen spontaneously that we have the most fun.

Nadia: My favorite memory together was definitely going on a week-long vacation to Hilton Head over the summer. It was so funny with all five of us being stuck in one car together, wanting to die during the 12 hour car ride, and then getting there and finally having the best time with just one another for a couple of days.

Mady: ^Hahaha Ya, safe to say we will be flying for any trips we go on from now on. But it’s hard to pick just one favorite memory together, pretty much whenever we are all together is a good time.

FN: What is on your bucket list for this semester?

Ashton: Personally, I have been trying to convince my roommates to go see “House of Gucci” but that does not really gone over well. lol.

Claire: Ashton has been convincing us to go see that movie and honestly I’m so down to see it too, so I agree with Ashton.

Grace: Something that would be on my bucket list would be treating ourselves to a nice dinner somewhere off campus at the end of the semester. We all work hard and could use a nice rewarding night with each other for sure!

Nadia: @Ashton we could have already streamed it on the TV.

My bucket list for this semester would be to all go out together in the Oregon District and experience the restaurants and vibes out there.

Mady: Ashton give it up, it’s not happening. But going to have to agree with Nadia here, going out somewhere new together is always fun!

FN: Do you have any advice for underclassmen?

Ashton: My advice to underclassmen would be to be open to meeting anyone and everyone. This university is home to some of the best people I know that have changed my life.

Claire: My advice would be to do things that you usually wouldn’t do and to just have fun because it goes by so fast!

Grace: My advice would be to not overthink things and dwell on the negatives like being stressed with work and school, but to try your best to focus on the positive and happy moments. UD is a place like no other and these four years truly will fly by. Cherish every moment and have the time of your life!

Nadia: My advice would be if you are struggling now, whether it be with finding your group of friends or roommate situations, it will always work out in the end where you will find your people at one point even if that does not seem possible at the moment. I think we all struggled a bit finding our people freshman year and when we miraculously formed together and became roommates, everything seemed to fit into place.

Mady: I would say to just be yourself because everything works out exactly how it’s supposed to. I really didn’t know a lot of people coming into UD and now I couldn’t imagine my life without so many of the people I have met here.

FN: If you were all back for your 10-year reunion, what would everyone be up to?

Ashton: Oh my, this is a loaded question. In 10 years from now we will be 31, so I would assume that we will all most likely be married with kids… which is a lot to digest. I would think that Claire and Grace are thriving in marketing, Nadia will be a stellar accountant, and Mady is going to be working with kids through a criminal justice scope. In regards to me, I will be teaching high schoolers somewhere. hahaha.

Claire: I agree with Ashton, crazy to think that in 10 years we will all be in different places doing different things, but I know we will be friends forever.

Grace: I could imagine we will all be successful in work, married possibly with kids, ah! I wish nothing but good wishes for these girls and know we will be the best of friends still at that point! Can’t wait to see where everyone ends up.

Nadia: I agree with Ashton as well, I think we will all be living in different areas with kids and families still talking in our little group chat about the day to day things we do and laugh about them.

Mady: Honestly, I’m not entirely sure, but whatever it is I have no doubt that we will still be in touch and hopefully taking turns visiting each other!

FN: Anything else you would like to add?

Ashton: This group of girls is for a lifetime! Time is going by way too fast here at UD and I cannot imagine life without getting to live with my best friends. We are almost seniors. It’s a little scary honestly. I love it here and someone will have to drag me out of our house next year for graduation. It’s just not happening.

Claire: These girls are ones that I have always wanted to have in my life. They have made me so much more of who I am and have made me grow as a person. I would not be at UD if it wasn’t for them, considering freshman year I almost transferred and didn’t because of them. Thankfully. I can’t wait to make more memories with them in the time we have left here at UD.

Grace: UD is the happiest place on earth, no doubt. It brought me the best of friends who I consider my family. I love every moment that I can spend with my friends and do not take a moment for granted that I have living with them. I will forever be grateful for everything these girls do for me and how they have helped shape me into the person I am today. With three more semesters left, I try to wake up every day with a good attitude and smile on my face, cherishing every second because being here at UD with these people is truly a blessing.

Nadia: I think Ashton, Claire and Grace summoned it up pretty well. I agree with everything they say and am so happy I picked the school I did.

Mady: Could not be more grateful for this school and all of the amazing people it has brought with it, especially the best group of roommates and friends I could ever ask for. I cherish every memory we have had together and can’t wait for many more to come!
