Shooting in downtown Dayton prompts shelter in place at The Hub Tuesday

University of Dayton students, faculty and staff were placed under a shelter in place at the Hub Tuesday after a shooting at Wright Stop Plaza.

An alert was sent out to the campus community at 2:45 p.m. reporting of police activity at the bus terminal, located across South Main Street from the main entrance of the Hub.

The all clear message, which lifted the shelter in place, was sent out through the same alert system at 3:36 p.m.

According to a report from Dayton 24/7, Dayton Police confirmed that three people were shot at Wright Stop Plaza with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the bus was among the three victims.

Dayton 24/7 also reported that the police have located two persons of interest that are currently being questioned.

According to Cilla Schindell, executive director of news and communications for UD, operations at the Hub will proceed as normal Tuesday evening, including classes and meetings that were previously scheduled.

Wright Stop Plaza was re-opened after being closed for over an hour due to a police investigation, according to a tweet from the Greater Dayton RTA account.
