New Collection Pays Tribute To One Of Broadway’s Most Iconic Composers

For all the Broadway musical enthusiasts out there, here is some exciting news!

In celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 70th birthday, a new four-CD collection of his music entitled “Andrew Lloyd Webber Unmasked: The Platinum Collection” has been released.

The collection, which can be found on Spotify, Amazon Prime Music, Apple Music, iTunes Store, and Google Play, includes 71 of Lloyd Webber’s best songs and orchestrations.

The first three CDs, or sets, are a mix of original cast recordings and new recordings from various artists and bands, including Barbara Streisand, the cast of Glee, Lana Del Rey, Glenn Close, Madonna, Elvis Presley, and Beyoncé.

Some notable new recordings are Lana Del Rey’s “You Must Love Me” from “Evita,” Nicole Scherzinger’s “Memory” from “Cats,” and Gregory Porter’s “Light at the End of the Tunnel” from “Starlight Express.”

Commenting on Lloyd Webber’s impact, Del Rey said, “Andrew Lloyd Webber has been one of my primary inspirations in music, so to do a cover of one of his songs is a dream.”

Porter also expressed praise, saying, “Andrew is an icon of not only musical theatre, but he’s an icon of music, our culture, and of our human experience.”

Some other songs worth giving a listen to include the cast of Glee’s “Buenos Aires” from “Evita,” Emmy Rossum and Patrick Wilson’s “Think of Me” from “The Phantom of the Opera,” and Sierra Boggess’ “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again (Live at the Royal Albert Hall)” from “The Phantom of the Opera.”

For the especially fanatic Broadway junkies, the four-CD version includes an exclusive 40-page book with an introduction penned by Lloyd Weber himself and in-depth notes on each track. The book also includes special tributes, including ones from Barbara Streisand and Glenn Close.
