University Update: Former President Dan Curran In Need Of Liver
After a decade of successfully supervising his liver disease, President Emeritus Dan Curran is now in need of a new liver.
University of Dayton President Eric Spina alerted the UD community of this news via email on Monday afternoon.
“It has been clear that President Emeritus Dan Curran feels a deep and profound affection for the University of Dayton and each member of our community,” Spina said.
“I ask you all to join me now in returning that deep affection with your thoughts and prayers for Dr. Dan and his family.”
The University will not be sharing further information regarding his health during this time, according to the email.

Curran served as president of the University for 14 years and retired in summer 2016. Following his retirement, Curran served as an executive in residence for UD’s China Institute Asian affairs and continued to teach.
