Flyer Softball had another busy weekend for their fall season, playing in some games that were worth more than just a win.
On Saturday, Sep. 29, Dayton competed in the 18th annual Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic hosted by Ohio State. The tournament consisted of 20 teams from Ohio and surrounding states. Donations were taken at all games to go towards The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
The Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic, which has raised over $200,000, is one of the largest fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness month in central Ohio. The Flyers tied Bowling Green (5-1-0) in the morning 1-1 and lost to Miami University (3-0) 5-2 in the afternoon.
Dayton Softball also played against DePauw University on Sunday, Sep. 30 at the UD Softball Stadium. The Tigers started off the game hot with a quick 5-0 lead after the first inning.
The Flyers got on the board by the fourth, but lost the game 8-3. Sophomore right fielder Hannah Heraty scored two of the three runs for the Flyers, batting two for three for the game. Dayton now holds a 2-2-3 record in their fall season.
The team has one more game to look forward to this fall with a game against Cedarville on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the UD Softball Stadium.
