Welcome back, Flyers. Just as the campus continues renovating and improving, so are we at Flyer News. We’re proud to present a new paper design and a new website so you can have the power to get your FN fix at all times.

We want to inspire the next generation of students to continue pursuing their passions and to stay interested in local, national and international issues. We truly want to be the voice of the student body and plan on doing this through our complete coverage of events and happenings on campus. It’s easy to turn a blind eye to some of the hardships going on in the world but we believe it’s our responsibility not to.

People often complain about the information given to them by the “media,” saying that it’s biased in one form or another. At FN we recognize that we are the media and we believe that if we are going to write something, it has to be something that we stand behind.

We encourage the student body to do the same.

Whether you’re a freshman with a clean slate or a senior with only one more year to go, utilize this time for all it’s worth. Talk to a teacher after class, help another student who’s struggling and don’t be afraid to go off campus and see the world. There are countless opportunities hidden beneath the veil of hard work so get involved as much as you can. Change up your routine every once in a while, and don’t be afraid to to try new things. We want to emphasise the message of Columnist Chris Zimmer in this issue that it is your right and responsibility to be involved with current events. We believe that it is our job to serve you.

Like the American patriot Alexander Hamilton said, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.”

We plan on standing for something this year at FN. We hope you’ll do the same.
