Visit the Oregon District

The Oregon District is an old Dayton neighborhood located within 10 minutes of campus. It is a popular place for UD students and Dayton citizens to walk through and explore. The popular neighborhood consists of different shops, art galleries, restaurants, clubs, and bars. The main street in the Oregon District (Fifth St.) is closed off from vehicles on the weekends allowing for families and friends to explore freely.

Visit the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force

Located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the museum is the world’s largest military aviation museum. The museum consists of more than 350 aerospace vehicles and is close to 20 acres in total size. They are also having an open aircraft day on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. which allows visitors to get an inside look at an F-22A cockpit.

First Friday Downtown Dayton

This event in Downtown Dayton is held between 5-10 pm on Friday, May 7. Much similar to the Oregon District this event will allow for you to explore the different places that Downtown Dayton has to offer. Whether you enjoy shopping, the arts, or are looking for dinner plans, you will be able to find it on First Friday.

Visit UD Arena

Whether it be walking in your cap and gown, cheering on a loved one, the Baccalaureate Mass, or whatever reason you can come up with to visit the arena, it is worth it. The basketball arena is home to the best fans in the world and is one of the premier college basketball facilities in the country.

Preacher Lawson

If you plan on sticking around Sunday night, Americas Got Talent finalist Preacher Lawson will be performing at the Dayton Dragons’ stadium, Day Air Ballpark. The family-friendly show starts at 7 pm on May 9. Tickets vary from $50 to $30 depending on where in the stadium you are looking to sit.

Grab a drink at Timothy’s Bar and Grill

The University of Dayton’s staple bar located on Brown St. is popular among UD Seniors. Having themed nights throughout the week and year, the bar is an entertaining place for everyone of age.

Walk through campus

Last but certainly not least, you and your loved ones need to take a walk-through UD’s beautiful campus. Whether it be your first time on campus or your 20th, the campus is still as gorgeous as ever. Whether it be the chapel, the architecture, or the flowers and trees in full bloom, springtime at UD really highlights the campus. For many of us this may even be our last walk-through ever as students.
