A look at the upcoming season for UD Athletes, what to expect

As we head into September, it is looking to be an exciting Fall Sports Season for the Flyers!
Cross Country:
Both Men’s and Women’s Cross Country will begin their season close to home at Wright State University at the Mike Baumer Invitational. The teams will travel to Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois before another Invite back in Dayton. The Atlantic 10 Championship will be held in Cedarville, Ohio at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course. The NCAA Great Lakes Regional will be on November 10 and the season will wrap up with Championships on the following weekend.

Golf:
In terms of Golf, the highlight of the season will be the Flyer Invitational here in Kettering, Ohio at the NCR Country Club, where both Men’s and Women’s teams will be competing. The Flyer Invitational will be held on October 16th and 17th. Prior to that, the Men’s team will compete in four other events this fall. Flyers Men’s Golf has 7 players returning this year, including Henry May, who led the team at the A-10 Championship last year with a 16th-place finish. The Women’s team will also have 4 other events before the Invitational at home. Similar to the Men’s team, Dayton Women’s Golf has 7 players returning and 2 newcomers.

Soccer:
Dayton Men’s Soccer has already begun their season, and they have 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss on their record thus far. On Friday, September 1, the Flyers will play IUPUI at Baujan Field right on campus. The regular season consists of 8 home games, with 4 of those being Atlantic 10 Conference games.
Dayton Women’s Soccer has gotten their season off to a spectacular start with 3 wins at home against Loyola Maryland, Cincinnati, and Louisville. They also tied Illinois this past Sunday, 0-0. Sophomore Mairin Wessner was recognized as this season’s first Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week. Additionally, this week, Batoul Reda was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week. Women’s Soccer has 7 upcoming matches at Baujan this season.

Football:
This year, Dayton Football will have their first home game against Central State on September 9th. The football team will have 6 games at Welcome Stadium this year, including a game against St. Thomas during the University’s Family Weekend.

Volleyball:
This upcoming season will be an exciting one for Dayton Volleyball as they began the season by hosting the Dayton Flyer Classic in the Frericks Center. The following weekend is the Dayton Invitational with games on both Friday and Saturday. Over the weekend, the Flyers swept 24th-ranked Western Kentucky, and as a result of this successful weekend, Dayton received 34 votes in the August, 28th AVCA/TARAFLEX Top 25 Poll. Flyers Volleyball will need your support in the Frericks Center these next few weeks!
