Films You CAN’T Miss This Week (Oct. 7)
By: Brett Slaughenhaupt – Movie Columnist
These upcoming films are coming to theaters everywhere on October 7:
The Girl on the Train
“A divorcee becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation that promises to send shockwaves throughout her life.” (IMDb)
After a strong showing for Gone Girl two years ago, this similarly themed film will hopefully follow suit and give Emily Blunt the chance to shine in an interesting leading role!
The Birth of a Nation
“Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher in the antebellum South, orchestrates an uprising.” (IMDb)
This film is already breaking records and has received critical acclaim. The true test will be how audiences respond amid recent controversy with its director, writer, and lead actor, Nate Parker. Read our columnist’s take on the issue. 76/100 Metacritic
