Nothing warms an uncharacteristically cold March evening quite like the intimate atmosphere of Thursday Night Live at ArtStreet Café. The space played host to two performances, one a returning performer and the other making their TNL debut. The show spotlighted boy group Safety Scissors and singer/guitarist Sonia Krolak.

Safety Scissors, featuring an electric and acoustic guitar combination, kicked off the night, their debut at TNL. Their setlist began with a heartfelt cover of “Say It Ain’t So” by Weezer, followed by a pop-y rendition of Sublime’s “Santeria.” The group showcased their guitar skills during their performance of “Under the Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Safety Scissors was supposedly finished after the final song on their setlist, “She Moves in Her Own Way” by The Kooks, but came back on for an encore after another TNL performer canceled. Their return featured a rocking performance of “When You Were Young” by The Killers.
Sonia Krolak opened up her performance with a beautiful acoustic rendition of “Feeling Whitney” by Post Malone, showcasing her guitar skills. Her second song was an original titled “At All,” an emotional appeal that the audience adored. The veteran TNL performer’s humor and playful attitude came through transitioning from song to song, balancing her moving performance.

Krolak’s cover of the folksy “The Golden State” by Dallas Green was followed by a heartfelt original titled “Alright.” Her most upbeat song of the night was “Green Light” by Lorde, which had the entire café bopping along to the beat. But Krolak wasn’t finished with Lorde, strumming right into the star’s “Perfect Places,” to the delight of the crowd.
Thursday Night Live was yet another success, bringing a small group of UD artists together to share their talents.
The event is held every Thursday 8-10 p.m. at the ArtStreet Café.
