The Victoria Theatre Association (VTA), a local organization dedicated to maintaining and expanding Dayton’s art community, is opening the Arts Annex next fall to specifically to give established and aspiring artists a place to foster their creativity.

“Young people crave creative pursuits, and the positive value of involving young people in creative activities is undisputed,” VTA President and CEO Ken Neufeld said in a statement. This sentiment exemplifies the importance of active, sustainable artistic communities.

The 12,000 square foot facility, located downtown will be accessible to the greater Dayton community, as well as UD’s community. VTA’s website explained why the facility has come to fruition. “There is a need for an intimate, state-of-the-art, flexible performance space in downtown that has a multitude of configurations…”

Much like what ArtStreet offers on a smaller scale, the Arts Annex is a place that all types of performers and artists can go to hone and showcase their skills.

“The Arts Annex provides just what is needed for the Dayton arts community to continue to grow and reach new audiences that crave a different experience that is more hands-on …” VTA Vice President of education and engagement Gary Minyard said.
