Former UD student and Kettering native, Holly Gyenes has been chosen to be one of the original cast members of Disney’s newest musical adventure, D Cappella, an a cappella concert tour.

On Jan. 23, Gyenes announced on her Facebook page that she officially became a member and is Los Angeles currently working recording the a cappella album.

She will travel the country, along with 13 other members, performing at approximately 40 arts venues across the United States.

Geynes graduated from the University of Dayton in 2017 with a degree in Musical Arts. Despite being fresh out of college, Gyenes’s résumé is already filled with impressive accomplishments.

In high school Gyenes was a part of the award winning a cappella group, Eleventh Hour, which some may remember as the youngest group to appear on “The Sing-Off” in 2010.

Then, in 2015, Gyenes’s voice was featured as a background singer for the internationally known, three-time Grammy award winners, Pentatonix.

In order to be considered for a part in D Cappella Gyenes submitted a video of herself singing a cover of a pop song and a cover of a Disney song. Once submitted the videos were viewed by Disney’s team which included Deke Sharon, who is considered to be one of the greatest a cappella singers of all time.
