There is no denying that this break is far longer than the ones we’ve had in previous years. To help get you through the days, here are five binge-worthy TV shows for you to watch this winter break!

Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek is a must-watch sitcom starring Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, Annie Murphy and Catherine O’Hara. Together, they play the Schitt family, who lose their money and are forced to move to the small, not-so-fancy town they once bought as a joke. This series is five seasons of laugh-out-loud jokes, heartwarming growth, quick-witted humor and so much more. All five seasons are on Netflix!

Shameless

Are you ready for the end of Shameless? If not, start watching! The tenth and final season of the drama/comedy series has recently been released, and this season does not stray from past seasons’ drama. If you’ve fallen behind, though, don’t worry!

The final season will not be aired on Netflix until July 2021. So, there’s plenty of time to catch-up. Grab your favorite snack and go watch the whirlwind lives of the Gallagher family in the South Side of Chicago.

The Queen’s Gambit

Currently in the top 10 list on Netflix is The Queen’s Gambit. This story takes place in the 1950s and centers around an orphan, Elizabeth, who happens to be exceptionally skilled at chess. In only seven episodes, The Queen’s Gambit takes you through Elizabeth Harmon’s powerful story of loss, victory and everything in between. This miniseries will gladly take seven hours of your time, and you’ll love every second of it.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Need a little less drama and a little more fright? The Haunting of Bly Manor, the follow-up series to the exceptional The Haunting of Hill House, is a recent addition to Netflix as of this past October.

Dani Clayton gets hired to work in a beautiful mansion as a live-in nanny to two young children. When she moves in, things begin to take a turn for the worst. Between her past trauma and her current living situation, there is no shortage of fear. If you want a show that’ll give you a jump and keep your mind (and stomach) turning at all times, The Haunting of Bly Manor may be just what you’re looking for.

New Girl

This may be an old one, but to me, it’s timeless. If you haven’t watched New Girl yet, now is the perfect time to start!

Get ready for a multitude of belly laughs from the sarcastic, quick-witted, obnoxious, and sometimes far-too-relatable personalities of Jessica Day, Nick Miller, Winston Bishop and Schmidt. Together as roommates, with a few added personalities in-between, these four navigate their way through life in their upper-twenties and into their thirties. Fall in love with apartment 4D this break, and if you have already seen it, watch it again! All seven seasons are on Netflix.

This break may be long, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a bore. Stay entertained with these five shows and we’ll be back on campus before you know it. Happy watching!
