Natasha Baker, lecturer in the Communication Department, sits at her desk in her Zehler Hall office after teaching an afternoon public relations class.

Baker walked into her new office on her first day teaching at the University of Dayton to find a pin of Frenchman Joseph Ducreux laying in the middle of her desk.

She has no idea who left the pin that reads “Disregard government, acquire liberty,” but she has held on to it for years.

Baker orchestrated a huge event at the Air Force Museum for the centennial of the Wright Brothers’ first flight, which earned her a signed letter from then-President George W. Bush, who spoke at the event.

Hanging in frames above her desk are six of Baker’s greatest achievements: her three diplomas and her three children. She’s a Sinclair graduate and a two-time UD graduate.

Baker has a crude coffee mug for every day of the week, but the story of the blue one comes with a story about an exhausting employee retreat in the middle of the woods.

Five awards she has received for her work in public relations line the third shelf in her office, but Baker said she has more at home. She didn’t want to take up another shelf with engraved glass statues.
