Former Dayton Flyers men’s basketball guard Ibi Watson was signed by the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday.
Watson originally transferred from the University of Michigan in 2018 (sat out 2018-19 season), and averaged 28.9 minutes per game in 25 starts and 55 games played. Watson scored 12.5 points per game, grabbed 3.1 rebounds per game and dished out 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 40.6 percent from three and 48 percent from the field.
During NBA Summer League, Watson averaged 4.4 points in 16.6 minutes per game for the Hawks, who finish the preseason in Atlanta Thursday against the Miami Heat. The regular season opens Oct. 21 at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Watson joins former teammate Jalen Crutcher in signing with an NBA team (Charlotte Hornets) this week, and Watson is expected to play in the NBA G League for the College Park Skyhawks.
