Travel back in time with ‘Taylor’s Version’

As many of you may know, Taylor Swift has announced the upcoming re-release of her first six studio albums, starting with the release of “Fearless.” On April 9, Swifties were transported back to 2008 with the re-release of beloved songs like “You Belong With Me” and “White Horse.”
Swift, who parted from her old label Big Machine in recent years, made it her mission to reclaim the music that was once hers but was robbed from music producer Scooter Braun. After listening to the brand new “Fearless (Taylor’s Version), she seemingly has done just that.
Let me tell you, I can hardly hear the faintest of differences throughout the entirety of the album from the original “Fearless” album. Swift truly recreated the songs that once belonged to her word for word and nearly second to second.
Even more impressively, although it’s been nearly 13 years since “Fearless” was released, Swift somehow has managed to maintain the sound of her much-younger self. Despite having aged over a decade, you can barely notice a change in her tone, and it’s quite remarkable.
This being said, my favorite song on the album is the same as it was when the original “Fearless” was released in 2008.
“Fifteen,” another track on the re-release, is a song Swift wrote about her best friend, Abigail Anderson, and her first heartbreak. Swift told CMT radio (Taylor Swift’s Fascination With Fairy Tales Comes Through on New Album | CMT), “’Fifteen’ talks about how my best friend, Abigail, got her heart broken when we were in ninth grade and singing about that absolutely gets me every time.”
The first time I listened to the song I was probably 13 or 14 (I know, I was late to the game). So, when I listened to the new version, as a soon-to-be-graduated senior in college, I couldn’t think of anything except how fast time has gone (and I’m a sucker for the sentimental).
If you’re looking to relive your middle-school heartbreak, or just travel back in time for the heck of it, definitely listen to 31-year-old Swift sing your 13-year-old’s favorite “Fearless” song.
Although the two albums may sound nearly identical, if you’re going to listen to one, choose Taylor’s Version. Not only are these songs her own, and not only is she trying to take back what’s hers, but she’s even giving her fans six songs “from the vault” that were cut from the original album, including features from Keith Urban and Maren Morris, as well as a throwback rumored to be about to her whirlwind romance with Joe Jonas.
“Mr. Perfectly Fine” is all about that supposed perfect person, perfect relationship and what turns out to be perfect white lies, and it’s my favorite song from Swift’s vault.
