The University of Dayton has been mourning the death of Malinda Meyer for a week now, after she passed away unexpectedly in her residence in Marianist Hall on Nov. 6.
Malinda was a communications student and also a member of the University of Dayton running club. In her free time, she volunteered through the College Mentors for Kids Program.
UD held a gathering for prayer on Nov. 7 at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. A memorial was also created for her in the Chapel, where anyone could stop by and light a candle.
The UD Run Club posted a tribute to Malinda on their Instagram, saying
“Mal brought so much joy and humor to run club. She showed up to every meet with a smile and determination to race. We will miss her dearly.”
A similar sentiment was shared in her obituary: “Malinda’s friends and family will always remember her as fearless, resilient, and full of life.”
Malinda had a huge heart for animals, so the family requested that all memorials be directed to the Animal Care League (www.animalcareleague.org) in her hometown of Oak Park, Illinois.
Malinda’s Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 W. Madison St., Forest Park, IL, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm.
