Schedule flexibility is at an all-time high in the 2020-21 college basketball season, and for the University of Dayton men’s and women’s basketball teams, making adjustments is just part of this unique season.
As games are cancelled, postponed or added to the schedule, Flyer News will keep updates posted to this thread, starting with updates from Dec. 2.
Dec. 2
COVID-19 issues at Purdue Fort Wayne have caused the cancellation of the Flyers men’s basketball Dec. 8 match-up against the Mastodons.
“We have been informed that Purdue Fort Wayne has suspended basketball operations, due a positive COVID-19 test within its program,” UD announced Wednesday. “As a result, they cannot play at UD Arena on Tuesday, December 8. We will work through our contingency plans and share scheduling updates as they develop.”
The Flyers’ next game is scheduled to be Saturday at 2 p.m. against SMU.
Dec. 3
The Flyers women’s basketball team has made two adjustments to their upcoming schedule. They will now face Akron instead of Central Michigan at UD Arena for their home opener Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., and have moved the Central Michigan game to Dec. 22 at noon.
The Flyers’ next game is the home opener against Akron this Sunday at 2 p.m.
Dec. 5
Minutes after the Flyers fall 66-64 to SMU, the team announces the re-scheduling of their Dec. 8 match-up (cancelled Purdue Fort Wayne) to Northern Kentucky Tuesday at UD Arena at 7 p.m.
Dec. 8
The women’s basketball game at Charlotte scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled due to “COVID concerns within the program.”
Because the Dec. 13 home game against Alabama A&M has already been cancelled due to problems in the A&M team, the next game currently scheduled will be against Florida at noon Dec. 20 at UD Arena.
Dec. 10
The UD women’s basketball game against Florida on Dec. 20 has been replaced by Indiana State. The game will now be played at 2 p.m.
Dec. 16
The women’s basketball team has now cancelled the newly-scheduled Indiana State game Dec. 20, along with the shifted Central Michigan game Dec. 22, due to COVID-19 concerns.
