With losses to Saint Louis on Thursday and Sunday, the Dayton Flyers women’s soccer team missed out on a chance to host the Atlantic 10 Tournament. However, they still amassed enough points to make the A-10 Tournament as the No. 4 seed.
Sophomore winger Jessica Sheldon scored the only goal for the Flyers in Thursday’s 3-1 loss. Freshman forward Itala Gemelli netted her ninth goal of the season in Sunday’s 2-1 loss. For both goals, freshman defender Katie Houck got the assist.
As the No. 4 seed, the Flyers will face the Billikens once again. In the earlier match-up this season, the Flyers fell 3-2 in 2OT. The Flyers have been competitive in each of the three games against the Billikens, but will have to take it to the next level to win and advance to the final.
Kickoff in the semifinal is set for 1 p.m. on Thursday in Saint Louis, and the second semifinal will be between No. 2 Massachusetts and No. 3 Davidson at 4 p.m. The championship final is slated for Saturday at 1 p.m.
