Flyers volleyball dominates Atlantic 10 postseason awards ahead of tournament

The Atlantic 10 end of the year awards were announced Friday, with University of Dayton volleyball senior Jamie Peterson becoming the first Flyer to have been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year three times.
Peterson ranks first in the A-10 with 0.43 aces per set and is averaging a career-high 0.81 blocks per set and was also named All-Conference First Team.
Sophomore Livie Sandt joined Peterson on the All-Conference First Team and was awarded the league’s Setter of the Year, leading the team and ranking second in the conference with 9.34 assists per set.
Lexie Almodovar, redshirt freshman, was also named to the All-Conference First team while redshirt sophomore, Amelia Moore, was named to the All-Conference Second team after leading the A10 in blocks per set. Moore was also named to the All-Academic team roster.
Senior Maura Collins was chosen as Co-Libero of the Year (Bella Brady from Davidson), and named to the All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic Team. Collins has played in 97 of the Flyers’ 98 sets this season.
Head coach, Tim Horsmon earned his sixth overall and second consecutive A10 Coach of the Year award (this Co-Coach with Chris Willis from Davidson). This year’s perfect 16-0 mark in regular season conference play is the third undefeated league season for Horsmon.
Dayton will begin the A10 Championship tournament Saturday in the semifinals and will face Duquesne at 1:30 p.m. All of the championship’s matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
