An 18-0 run to start Sunday’s game was enough to keep Dayton well ahead of the La Salle Explorers, the Flyers cruising to a 95-66 win in Philadelphia for their ninth A10 win.
With 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks off the bench, freshman center Tenin Magassa was a stalwart for the Flyers, who got double-digit scoring from redshirt senior guards Jenna Giacone (17 points) and Erin Whalen (11), and freshman guard Makira Cook (16).
The Flyers 26-9 lead after the first quarter was cut slightly to 47-34 at halftime, but a 10-point advantage in the third put the game out of reach.
By shooting 52 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range, and dominating the boards (45-26), the Flyers cruised to a 29-point win to improve to 10-1 on the season, 9-0 in A10 play and 7-0 on the road.
The Flyers’ next game will be back at home Friday against Richmond at 5 p.m.
