University of Dayton basketball alumni, Kyle Davis, co-stars in a new independent film
by David Parfitt titled “Eight Nations.”
Last weekend, Dayton hosted an Independent Film Festival at the Neon Theater and
the Dixie Twin Drive-In. I attended Parfitt’s world premier for this documentary on
Saturday night and led a Q&A with Davis after the movie ended.
During Kyle’s time at University of Dayton he made a mark on the basketball community
from 2013-17. He began his career with an explosive dunk at the Maui Invitational as
a freshman and ended it with an Atlantic 10 Conference Championship his final year.
That was not nearly the end of Kyle’s basketball career. Eight Nations follows the team,
“World Vision” led by coach Daimon Beathea.
The film shows the lives of the one percent of
professional basketball players working tirelessly to keep their dreams alive.
Throughout the film the stories of these players are portrayed realistically. This
perspective allows younger kids to see that their favorite players live normal lives just
like everyone else.
On top of that, viewers get to witness the time, effort and dedication
it takes to live out your dreams.
I was honored for the opportunity to speak with Kyle after the premier. The crowd was
filled with loyal Dayton fans ready to have their questions answered. The audience was
very eager to know if Kyle will be returning to Dayton and what his future looks like.
The Dayton community appreciates the talent Kyle brought to the basketball team in
years past and are supportive of his future endeavors.
