The University of Dayton men’s basketball team announced their non-conference schedule for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday.

After an exhibition game to be played on either Oct. 30 or Nov. 1 against an opponent to be determined, the Flyers will play four straight home games to open the regular season: Illinois Chicago (Nov. 9), UMass-Lowell (Nov. 13), Lipscomb (Nov. 17) and Austin Peay (Nov. 20).

The next games for the Flyers will be at the ESPN Events Invitational at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., beginning with an opening game against Miami (Fla.) on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 25) at noon. Depending on the result of their own game, the Flyers will then play against the winner or loser of Kansas or North Texas on Nov. 26. On the third day of the tournament (Nov. 28), the Flyers could play Alabama, Belmont, Drake, or Iona.

Then, the Flyers will return back to UD Arena for two games against Alabama State (Dec. 1) and Northern Illinois (Dec. 4). SMU on the road will be next on Dec. 8 before Virginia Tech at home on Dec. 12. The Flyers last played the Hokies at the Maui Invitational in 2019, a game they won 89-62 to advance to the championship game, which they lost to another (potential) 2021-22 opponent, Kansas, 90-84 in overtime.

The Flyers non-conference slate wraps up with a road game against Mississippi on Dec. 18 and a home game against Southern on Dec. 21.
