On Wednesday Oct. 9 in collaboration with the exhibition game between UD and Xavier University men’s basketball team, UD and CareSource are partnering up to host the second annual Spotlight Town Hall event, honoring Jayda Grant. The event is centered around young adult mental health and suicide prevention, educating attendees and promoting mental health awareness.
The event will take place at UD Arena and is free of charge, with the program running from 7pm to 8:30pm. Doors open at 5:30 for a mental health resource fair and a meet-and-greet with the Dayton men’s basketball team. Attendants are highly encouraged to arrive early to learn about the various mental health organizations, visit the exhibits, and support programs in connection with substance abuse initiatives.
Gloria Umanah is the keynote presenter. From almost losing her life to suicide, Umanah has been a passionate advocate for those who feel invisible and promoting that there is a greater purpose for those in life who feel like they’re struggling.
A panel of guest speakers will follow Umanah’s presentation, Anthony Grant and his wife Chris being two of them.
Local mental health organizations throughout the Dayton area will be in attendance as well in order for individuals interested in the event to have a great knowledge and awareness of the programs within the city.
