Fun Facts On Ohio Gubernatorial Candidates Mike Dewine, Richard Cordray

UD will host the first Ohio gubernatorial debate on Sept. 19 at its River Campus. The race between Mike Dewine (R) and Richard Cordray (D) has been tight, and the candidates reached an almost exact tie (39 percent to 38 percent respectively) in a poll on Sept. 13.
The debate is highly anticipated, and several media outlets will be covering the event. Be sure to tune in to the debate livestream on WHIO Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Until that time, here are a few fun facts about the candidates.
Mike DeWine (R)
- The DeWine family has thrown an annual ice cream social in their hometown of Cedarville, OH for 42 years.
- He met his wife, Fran, in first grade.
- He’s rated the 15th best Capricorn named Mike on Famous Birthdays.
- Reba McEntire was the last artist he saw in concert.
- He thinks Michael J. Fox should play him in a movie.
Richard Cordray (D)
- His first job was at McDonald’s.
- He’s a five-time Jeopardy champion.

- He’s a father of twins.
