Kendrick Lamar has been on a hot streak ever since his comeback in 2022 and continues to add on to his numerous accolades by headlining the halftime performance of this year’s Super Bowl LIX.
Lamar has already performed at a Super Bowl (LVI in 2022) when he co-headlined the halftime show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige. This year, artists SZA and Tyler the Creator will be featured alongside Lamar, who is the headline this year.
Lamar just won five Grammys for his song “Not Like Us”, that won Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Music Video. These Grammys now put him at 22 Grammys Won in total. He already had the third most by any rapper in history only behind Jay-Z (25) and Kanye West (24), highlighting his popularity and talent as a musical artist.
Four time Grammy-winning artist, SZA has worked alongside him in the past, performing in songs such as “All the Stars”, “Gloria” and “Doves in the Wind” to name a few. SZA’s “Saturn” won a Grammy for Best R&B Song this year.
Tyler the Creator, another past Grammy winner, has not yet performed alongside Lamar, so it’ll be exciting to see what his role will be.
The Super Bowl will be this Sunday and start around 6:30 p.m at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII (in 2023) featuring reigning champs, Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
