The University of Dayton’s women’s golf team, under the guidance of Coach Ellie Cronin, is gearing up for their spring season.
Considering the youth of the team this year, Cronin said, “They’re all very good and talented individuals.”
Juniors Megan Yoder and Jenna Harter have been identified as key leaders.
“Our two leaders are our two captains, “ Cronin said.
Promising freshmen add to the team’s youthfulness, indicating a solid base for future success.
The recent establishment of a new performance center at NCR in Kettering has significantly enhanced the team’s training capabilities.
“We utilize the facility while the weather is still cold,” Cronin said, underscoring the importance of having access to top-notch resources to maintain consistency in practice.
In terms of the schedule, Cronin emphasized the significance of the spring season, particularly the conference championship.
Despite UD’s mid-major status, Cronin acknowledged the potential impact of NIL deals, noting, “There’s some opportunity,” acknowledging that such deals may be more present at larger programs. Regarding the transfer portal, the coach views it as a positive avenue for student-athletes to find the right fit.
“The transfer portal is a great way right now for kids to be able to find where they want to go to school,” Cronin said.
The coach said her favorite part about coaching is witnessing the team’s growth and development.
“Being able to spend time putting in the work in practice, and then having it just pay off by good scores and good team finishes,” she said.
