Things to do in Dayton this spring

Spring has sprung and with the sun coming out from behind the clouds and there are so many fun activities in the Dayton area. Here are just a few ideas for you and your friends to check out on a bright sunny day. 

Link Bikes 

If you’re not from the Dayton area or not too aware of it, Link Bikes are a great and fun way to have a small tour around Downtown Dayton. According to their website, you can find the bikes at 37 different locations all around Dayton and you get to choose between the Green Link bikes, or e-link bikes (electrical bikes). Students at Dayton get a free annual membership to Link which gives them 80 minutes per day with the green bikes and the discounted rate of $.10 per minute with the electric bike. Yellow Springs 

A small, bright little town like no other in Green County, Yellow Springs is a great place to spend your time in the spring. There are many fun activities that take place in Yellow Springs, such as checking out the art shops and old-fashioned toy stores. If hiking or nature walks are your favorite activity, Yellow Springs has three recreational parks and trails that are beautiful in the spring. 

One is Glen Helen Nature Preserve, a rocky trail with beautiful waterfalls, wide rocky chasms and a river you can wade in.

Another is John Bryan State Park, which is a perfect place for a picnic at the shelter houses they have and is filled with plaques of facts throughout the trails. 

Lastly is a personal favorite, Clifton, Ohio.  This has been a family favorite due to the history of the Clifton Gorge, and a Christmas-time holiday event at the Clifton Mill, where you can stop in any time to eat and pick up a small souvenir or two.

Young’s Dairy

An all-time popular activity around Yellow Springs is Young’s Dairy. You can see their newly renovated main building, where you can sit down and eat delicious food and ice cream. They have batting cages, a big slide, mini-golf and so much more! You can feed and pet goats, say “hi” to the cows and even some other farm animals. From March 31 to April 3 they are having a Homemade Ice Cream Pint sale as well as an annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 17. You can check out more activities on their website here. 

Scene 75 

When trying to stay dry during April showers, a great place to spend a weekend is Scene 75. This entertainment center has many fun activities to partake in such as arcade games, go-kart racing and even two in-door roller coasters! There are two bars and a full-service restaurant inside in case you get hungry from all the fun. Besides Dayton, there are also locations in Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland.
