Flyers volleyball extends winning streak to 16 with senior day win

The University of Dayton volleyball team swept George Washington on senior day Sunday, continuing their 16-match winning streak.

The Flyers closed out their home portion of its 2021 schedule with a 3-0 win (25-13) (25-18) (25-12). 

As a team, the Flyers posted a 0.287 hitting percentage and 11 total blocks led by sophomore Amelia Moore and senior Jamie Peterson. Dayton is now 15-0 in conference play and 22-5 overall. 

Sunday was a special night for seven departing seniors on the team. Once the matches ended, each athlete was presented a message from Coach Tim Horsmon and their teammates.

The seniors included outside hitters Mikayla Van Lanen, Jamie Peterson, Mahalia Swink and Alli Papesh; liberos Maura Collins and Elizabeth House, and middle blocker Molly Asmus. 

The Flyers will finish off their regular-season schedule Friday night at Saint Louis at 5 p.m.
