Flyers men’s soccer win Atlantic 10 regular season championship, will host 4-team tournament

With a 6-0 sophomore-led stomping of St. Bonaventure on Saturday, the Dayton Flyers men’s soccer team clinched the Atlantic 10 regular season championship and will host the 4-team A-10 tournament this week.
In Saturday’s game in Olean, N.Y., the Flyers scored all six goals within 35 minutes of game time, starting with a goal from sophomore forward Andy Sanchez in the 39th minute. One minute later, Sanchez assisted sophomore forward Toluwalase Oladeinbo.
The second half scoring started with a goal by sophomore forward Josh Darius in the 48th minute. With an assist from junior midfielder Kingsford Adjei, Oladienbo increase the lead to four in the 55th minute.
Assisted by sophomore winger Bryce Glisson, Darius scored again one minute later. Finally, Adjei fired a shot to the far post in the 74th minute to close the six-goal game.
With the 6-0 win over the Bonnies, the Flyers finish the regular season 4-3-1, and 4-1-1 in A-10 play. Earning 13 points, the Flyers clinch the regular season championship and will host the A-10 tournament.
Beginning with the semifinals on Thursday and finishing with the final on Saturday, April 17, Baujan Field will be the site of the tournament. The Flyers play George Washington at noon on Thursday, and will be followed with a match-up between the No. 2 and 3 seeds (Saint Louis and Fordham) at 4 p.m.
With a win, the Flyers would advance to the championship final, which will be played at noon Saturday.
