Seven members of the University of Dayton volleyball team received Atlantic 10 postseason awards on Thursday.
The most prominent award went to redshirt junior outside hitter Jamie Peterson, who earned the A-10 Player of the Year award for the second straight season. Peterson, who leads the Flyers with 186 kills, was also named to the All-Conference First Team.
Head coach Tim Horsmon earned the A-10 Coach of the Year award. In his 12th season at UD, Horsmon coached the Flyers to an 11-1 overall record and 8-1 in A-10 play. This is Horsmon’s fifth Coach of the Year award.
Next up in the individual awards is senior setter Bridget Doherty, who was named Setter of the Year. With 424 sets, Doherty also earned All-Conference First Team and All-Academic team honors.
Rounding out three Flyers on the All-Conference First Team is freshman libero/outside hitter Lexie Almodovar. With 138 kills, Almodovar was also named to the All-Rookie team.
Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Amelia Moore earned All-Conference Second Team honors, and freshman middle blocker Alayna Yates joined Almodovar on the All-Rookie team.
Finally, junior defensive specialist/libero Maura Collins joined Doherty on the All-Academic Team.
As the Flyers begin their A-10 championship defense against Fordham on Friday at 4 p.m., they close the regular season with three of the five individual awards and make up over a quarter (8 of 29) of the All-Conference teams.
