Women’s Basketball: UD cruises past Minutewomen for tenth straight win

The University of Dayton women’s basketball team won its tenth straight game with an 81-67 decision against the University of Massachusetts on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in Amherst, Mass.
UMass (3-17, 0-6) entered the contest seeking its first conference win of the season but found no luck as the Flyers (12-4, 5-0) led the entire game , remaining undefeated in conference play. UD also extended its Atlantic 10 winning streak to 23 games, one of the longest in the country.
Freshman guard Celeste Edwards scored a team-high 17 points and led a Dayton bench that accounted for 63 percent of UD’s total offensive output. Dayton’s bench outscored the Minutemen 51-34.
Freshman forward Andrijana Cvitkovic scored 14 points for the Flyers and also went an impressive 10-10 from the free throw stripe. Sophomore guard Amber Deane added 12 points.
The Flyers will again take to the road in a conference showdown against St. Joseph’s University on Sunday, Jan. 24, in Philadelphia, Pa. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. and it will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network.
