SGA elections close tonight at 8 PM as students cast their ballots

The University of Dayton is holding elections this week for its Student Government Association, with polls closing at 8 p.m. tonight. Students across campus have been casting their votes since Sunday morning, choosing representatives for their class years and seats in community action.
Campaigning began Sept. 10 and continued through the three-day voting period. The ballot features candidates from every undergraduate class as well as positions dedicated to supporting multi-ethnic and international student engagement.
Students can cast their ballots online through the CampusGroups portal on the app or by going to 1850.udayton.edu.
First-Year Class Representatives:
- Owen Cranley: Supports student advocacy and improved communication between students and staff.
- Ace Darkow: Calls for greater inclusion, safe spaces, support groups for mental health and LGBTQIA+ students, and more activities to connect first-years.
- Corrigan Huner: Focuses on student life, easing the transition to college, and improving everyday experiences on campus.
- Ava Mika: Stresses unity and ensuring voices from students with language or cultural barriers are heard.
- Thomas Norgle: Aims to expand career and leadership opportunities, improve wellness resources, and add practical amenities like water-bottle fillers.
- Nana Yaw Osei-Obeng: Promotes the need to ensure that every student feels included and heard.
- Michael Potter: Emphasizes listening to everyone and encouraging open conversations across campus.
- Nealeonn R. Scott: Focuses on helping students navigate campus resources and technology, reduce isolation, and promote mental health outreach.
- Isabella Siegel: Centers her platform on democracy, mental health, intercultural learning, and financial and social accessibility.
- Cullen Spalding: Wants to be a representative who listens and encourages communication among classmates.
Sophomore Class Representatives:
- Vivian Ahern: Aims to continue her work as a bridge between students and faculty, focusing on transparency and communication.
- Ben Alexander: Champions togetherness and ensuring that student voices are heard by faculty.
- Gus Bohac: Highlights togetherness and points to his prior experience in SGA.
- Rylie O’Shea: Seeks to help connect students to resources and be a go-to contact for her classmates.
Junior Class Representatives:
- Brigid Boyle: Focuses on strengthening the campus community, expanding mental health resources, and increasing funding for cultural and service organizations.
- Myah Hammond: Wants to ensure all students feel included, encourage diversity in leadership, and improve safety and access to resources.
- Isabella Murray: Stresses the importance of democratic participation and making sure students’ voices are heard.
- Lillian Weis: Wants to help students feel connected and work toward producing tangible results.
Senior Class Representative:
- Jhoan Perez Gutierrez: Aims to advocate for seniors and highlight challenges faced by older students.
Community Action Senators:
- Nancy Garcia: Candidate for Representative for Multi-Ethnic Student Engagement and Support. Platform details were not posted on the SGA candidate profile.
- Zay Min Htike: Candidate for Representative for International Student Engagement and Support, focusing on community-building and resources for international students, including language and classroom accommodations.
