The women’s Track and Field team finished seventh, with a total of 49.5 points at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship in Fairfax, Virginia add the date.
It was looking good for the Flyers at the end of the first day, as sophomore Taylor Flight finished with a silver medal in the weight throw with a personal record (PR) of 17.24 meters. Redshirt junior Emily Borchers also made the podium with her third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run.
Sophomore Corey Rinella finished fifth in the pentathlon with a total of five PRs in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800-meter run. Rinella finished with a total of 3,376 points, which puts her in fifth all-time at UD.
Borchers and Flight continued their streak in the second day. Borchers earned her second medal of the meet, finishing third in the mile run. Flight picked up another PR of 13.11 meters in the shot put, ending in sixth place. It wasn’t enough for the Flyers as VCU ended up taking home the women’s team A-10 Title.
Women’s Track and Field team will start outdoor competition at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee on March 22-23.
