Crime Log - September 21, 2007
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Sept. 7 and Sept. 16. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Criminal Damaging
Sept. 7, 1:25 p.m.
Officer Parmenter went to a residence on Stonemill Road in regard to damage done to a house. The officer spoke with the resident, who stated that between Sept. 5 and Sept. 7 someone damaged a plastic vent pipe, outside electrical outlet and a downspout on the outside of the house. The pipe was in two pieces, a cover from the electric outlet had been torn off the house and the downspout was bent and pulled into two pieces.
Criminal Trespassing
Sept. 9, 9:13 a.m.
Officer Parmenter was patrolling Kiefaber Street when he recognized a male who was going through trash cans in an alley. Officer Parmenter recognized a second male from previous contact as well and stopped to talk to the two men. He asked them for identification and asked the dispatcher to check for the two males in the Criminal Trespass Warning book. One male was arrested while the other could not be because he was not on UD property.
Petty Theft
Sept. 11, 11:53 a.m.
A male professor met with Officer Jolly in Sherman Hall with a complaint of stolen textbooks. The professor reported that on Sept. 10 around 2 p.m. he had opened the door to a room in Sherman Hall and saw someone exit through an outer office carrying something large under his right arm. The male did not make any eye contact with the professor so he checked the room to see what was missing. Three books valued at $375 were missing.
Criminal Damaging
Sept. 11, 5:08 p.m.
Officer Orrill met with a female student on Woodland Avenue in regard to a report of a damaged vehicle. The white 2007 Jeep Compass's passenger side mirror had been broken off and was hanging by a wire. The car was parked on Alberta Street on Sept. 8 around 5 p.m. and after returning on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. the student found the damage. There were also black scratches where the mirror hit the door. The complainant completed a written statement.
Strong-Arm Robbery
Sept. 16, 1:55 a.m.
Sergeant Swank and Sergeant McIntosh met with two witnesses and a victim of a strong-arm robbery. The victim was only semi-coherent after being struck in the face and having his cell phone and wallet removed. The male suspect had been with a group of three to four other males who the witnesses did not recognize as UD students. The victim was taken in for treatment to his jaw. The officers could not locate any possible suspects.
