Crime Log - September 11, 2007
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Aug. 30 and Sept. 1. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.
Theft
Aug. 30, 7:23 p.m.
Officer Cloyd was dispatched to Stonemill Road concerning a theft report. Upon his arrival, he met with a UD student who stated someone stole her CD case containing approximately 100 CDs out of her car. The offender(s) also tried to remove the front plate of the CD player using some sort of lighter or flame, causing the plastic to melt. The student stated that the locks on her vehicle do not always work properly. There were no signs of forced entry.
Criminal Trespass
Aug. 31, 10:25 a.m.
Officer Durian was on patrol when he observed a middle-aged male walking on Baujan Field. The identified man was stopped and stated he had received a Criminal Trespass Warning the week earlier and knew he was not allowed on the property. Officer Durian arrested the male and transported him to the Montgomery County Jail. While in the car, the male repeatedly said how he will be back on UD property because he wants to go to jail again.
Theft
Aug. 31, 1:40 p.m.
Officer Parmenter was dispatched to the walkway near St. Mary's Hall to meet with the UD grounds supervisor regarding a stolen parking bollard. According to the supervisor, the bollard disappeared sometime between 5 p.m. on Aug. 30, and 1 p.m. on Aug. 31. It was approximately 3 feet tall, 16 inches in diameter and weighs 90 pounds. He is not sure how anyone could remove it from the ground. The cost to replace the bollard is $2,495.
Criminal Damaging
Aug. 31, 3:28 p.m.
While on Stewart Street, a UD student advised Officer Russell that an unknown person damaged her vehicle. The 2003 gold four-door Toyota Highlander was parked in the GAN lot. After inspection, it appeared that the rear cargo door was damaged by unknown means, leaving a dent and scratches on the upper left side of the door. The damage occurred between 11 p.m. on Aug. 29, and 2 p.m. on Aug. 30. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.
Criminal Damaging
Sept. 1, 2:36 a.m.
Officer Pease was dispatched to Stonemill Road in reference to a criminal damage complaint. Upon arrival he spoke with a resident of the home, who stated the screen on the east side window of his residence had been damaged by someone punching it out. The student believed the damage occurred sometime between 12 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Nothing was missing from the residence, and it appeared that no one attempted to enter.
