Crime Log - April 27, 2007

April 20, 5:29 p.m.
Officer Orrill was dispatched to the SV Lot on the report of a vehicle that had been broken into. He met with the victim, a UD student, who said he returned to his car after 11 days to find his Maroon Saturn driver's side door was unlatched and partially standing open and the lock had been damaged. The center console of the dash had been removed and his stereo had been taken. It is valued at $70. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.
Burglary
April 21, 12:51 p.m.
Offer Parmenter spoke with a UD student at his residence on Chambers Street regarding a burglary. The resident stated someone had entered the unlocked front door and taken a book bag, laptop computer, a TI-83 scientific calculator and his wallet from the kitchen table. His wallet contained his driver's license, debit card and birth certificate. A cell phone was also missing. The resident could not provide serial numbers and there are no suspects.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
April 21, 11:56 p.m.
Officer Weber and Officer Pease pulled a Red Chevrolet Cavalier over on Frericks Way after observing it traveling at a high speed. Officer Weber saw the passenger place an item in the center console as he approached the car and he found it was a glass pipe with marijuana residue. The two searched the car. The passenger received a minor misdemeanor citation and the driver received a verbal warning.
Public Intoxication
April 22, 12:03 a.m.
Investigator Sweigart and Sergeant Witte spotted a male and a female walking in an alley between houses on Lawnview. The male was having trouble walking and was asked to sit down. He was visiting the UD female and was not able to speak clearly or reach for his wallet. He received a City of Dayton minor misdemeanor citation and was made aware of the trial date and monetary amount. The UD student promised to get her visitor back to her house.
Burglary
April 22, 12:58 p.m.
Officer Durian was dispatched to Marianist Hall in reference to a stolen computer. The victim stated he left his room unlocked when he exited at 10:30 p.m. and when he returned at 3:30 a.m. his Dell Inspiration 6000 Laptop was gone. The victim completed a written statement for the stolen laptop valued at $900. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. The victim stated he did not know anyone who may have taken it.
