Crime Log - April 11, 2006
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between April 3 and April 6. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Criminal Damaging
April 3, 10:45 a.m.
Officer Russell was dispatched to the RP13 parking lot on the report of damage to a vehicle. He contacted the complainant, who stated that an unknown person damaged her green 1999 Toyota Corolla. The damage is the result of two different incidents. The first incident occurred sometime between 2:15 a.m. on March 30 and 6:30 p.m. on March 31, when someone broke the left rear taillight lens. The second incident occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on April 1 and 1 p.m. on April 2. Someone broke the left outside mirror, leaving it hanging by the control cables. The door was also dented and the paint scratched by the mirror.
Burglary
April 3, 2:06 p.m.
Officer Weber met with a UD student at the University Police Department in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that on April 2 between the hours of 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., an unknown person entered his unlocked house on Evanston Avenue and removed his Tangent Shuttle 2700 laptop computer, valued at $2000, and an iPod mini, valued at $200. The complainant stated that he waited to report the burglary because he wanted to check with his friends and roommates to see if they were playing a prank on him.
Burglary
April 3, 3:39 p.m.
Officer Weber met with a UD student at the University Police Department in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that on April 2 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 a.m., an unknown person entered his unlocked residence on Lowes Street and removed two MTX speakers, valued at $200. There are no suspects at this time.
Criminal Damaging
April 4, 4:05 p.m.
Officer Russell was dispatched to the S2 parking lot on the report of damage to a vehicle. The complainant stated that an unknown person damaged her blue 1998 Honda. Sometime between 1:30 p.m. on March 29 and 8:30 p.m. on April 3, someone used an unknown sharp object to scratch an obscenity in large letters across the hood of the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.
Criminal Damaging
April 5, 4:12 p.m.
Officer Jolly was dispatched to Irving Avenue in reference to criminal damaging to a vehicle. The complainant stated that she parked her gray Honda Civic in the RP16 parking lot behind her residence on Irving Avenue around 12 a.m. She noticed today around 4 p.m. that her passenger side rear fender was dented. There were no signs of a vehicle striking the fender; rather, the damage was consistent with someone slamming his body into it. The complainant stated that she suspects the incident occurred between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. due to the heavy amount of pedestrian traffic walking to and from the bars.
Criminal Damaging
April 6, 4:00 p.m.
Officer Foreman was dispatched to Stonemill Road regarding a criminal damaging report. The complainant stated that at around 2:30 a.m., he heard a loud bang against the back of the house. When he and his housemates investigated, they noticed a piece of siding, about six inches in diameter, damaged at the southwest corner of the house. A large piece of glass, which looks like a piece of a picture tube, was found by the damaged siding. There are no known witnesses or suspects at this time.
