Crime Log - March 06, 2006


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between February 20 and March 1. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Theft

February 20, 2:36 p.m.

Officer Russell was dispatched to Benisek Hall to meet with a UD student on the report of a theft. The complainant stated that he had returned to his room in Marycrest Hall on February 13 at 12:30 a.m. and placed his Flyer Express card on his desk. When he had woken up later on the morning of February 13 to go to breakfast, the card was missing from his desk. He stated that he went to the Powerhouse to purchase a new card.. When he went to use his new card in the laundry room at Marycrest on February 20 at 2:15 p.m., he found that he only had $3.48 left on his card. He stated that he went to the Powerhouse and found out that his old card had been used three times. The card was used twice on February 12, once at Cousin Vinny's Pizza at 4:51 a.m. for $12.68 and a second time at Jimmy John's at 11:54 p.m. for $12.50. The card was used for the third time at Cousin Vinny's Pizza at 3:51 a.m. on February 15 for $12.68. The total loss was $37.86.

Burglary

February 25, 10:59 p.m.

Officer Cloyd met with a UD student at Benisek Hall regarding a theft. The complainant stated that on February 24 at around 2:30 p.m. he left his Campus South apartment. When he returned at around 2:30 p.m. on February 25, he noticed that his VCR, valued at about $45, was missing. The complainant stated that the only other person with access to the room is his roommate. He had not yet spoken to his roommate about the missing VCR.

Criminal Damaging

February 26, 1:28 p.m.

Officer Parmenter was dispatched to Stonemill Road regarding damage to a vehicle. He met with the complainant, who stated that sometime during the evening, someone had walked by his vehicle and knocked off the passenger's side mirror. Officer Parmenter inspected the vehicle and the damaged mirror, and found no evidence on or around the vehicle that would assist in locating the suspect or what had caused the damage.

Criminal Damaging

February 26, 3:13 p.m.

Officer Arnold responded to the rear of a residence on Kiefaber Street on a report of damage to a vehicle parked in the RP7 lot. He met with the complainant, who stated that sometime on the night of February 25 or morning of February 26, an unknown person had written unintelligible graffiti with a red permanent marker on the driver's side door, front fender, and window of her tan 1994 Ford Explorer. There are no suspects at this time.

Burglary

March 1, 6:47 p.m.

Officer Weber was dispatched to Lowes Street in reference to an unknown black male that had entered a house. Upon arrival, he met with two UD students who had been in the house at the time. The first complainant stated that she was doing dishes in the kitchen when she turned around and saw a male standing in the living room. She stated that he had entered the house through the unlocked front door and was asking for money. She stated that she refused to give him money, and he walked into the back bedroom. He then demanded money from the student in the back bedroom. The second complainant stated that the male had gotten very close to her and restricted ability to move about freely. She stated that she felt threatened by the male's large stature and had given him ninety cents in dimes. The male then walked out the front door and was last seen walking north from their residence. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'3'-6'5' with a large build, wearing a blue flannel shirt and a full head of hair that had some gray.
