Crime Log - January 24, 2006
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between January 15 and January 17. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Criminal Damaging
January 15, 2:27 a.m.
Officer Pease was dispatched to Lawnview Avenue in reference to a broken window. The complainant stated that between 11:30 p.m. and 2:27 a.m. a beer bottle was thrown at a kitchen window of his residence, causing the outer pane to shatter. The complainant stated he believed someone with whom he lived last year had broken the window.
Criminal Damaging
January 16, 2:28 a.m.
Officer Schaefer met with a complainant in the RP2 parking lot on a report of damage to a vehicle. The complainant stated at approximately 2:15 a.m. she had heard a noise in the parking lot at the rear of her house. She observed three males climbing a pine tree next to the parking lot. One of the males walked into the parking lot and put his can of beer on the hood of the complainant's vehicle. He then kicked the bumper of the vehicle, causing the beer to spill on the hood of the car. The complainant exited the house and confronted the male, who apologized and left the area with the other two males. The complainant then noticed the radio antenna of her vehicle had been broken off. The male who had spilled the beer is described as a short white male with shaggy brown hair.
Criminal Damaging
January 16, 2:49 a.m.
Officer Zoerb was dispatched to Lowes Street on a criminal damaging complaint. The complainant stated she and her roommates were sitting in their front living room when something was thrown at their front window, breaking it. Officer Zoerb was unable to locate any broken beer bottles or rocks at the scene. The complainant stated she does not know who committed the act.
Theft
January 16, 3:02 a.m.
Officer Pease was with Officer Zoerb while he was taking a report on a broken window when he was approached by a UD student about a foosball table had been stolen from the complainant's front porch. The complainant stated he had left his residence at 1:00 a.m., at which point the foosball table was still on the porch. When he returned at 2:00 a.m., the foosball table was gone. He checked the area around his residence and was not able to locate the table. The table is green with wood trim, and is valued at $200. The complainant could not think of anyone who might have stolen the table.
Telephone Harassment
January 17, 1:31 a.m.
Officer Zoerb was dispatched to Virginia Kettering Hall on a telephone harassment complaint. The complainant stated she answered a phone call at approximately 1:00 a.m. She stated a man's voice, which sounded as if it were coming from a recording, said, 'Hello, is Jeremy there'? The complainant told him he had the wrong number and immediately hung up the phone. She told Officer Zoerb she had received a similar phone call last week, on January 8, at approximately 10:00 p.m. The caller had sounded like a man with clogged nasal passages and a French accent, and had said he was doing questionnaires for his fraternity. The complainant stated the questions involved her deciding out of different scenarios which would scare her more. She told the caller she wasn't comfortable answering the questions. The complainant stated she didn't have any idea who the callers were or which fraternity the first caller belonged to. The complainant and her roommate were informed if they received another phone call they should contact the UD Police department and get as much information from the callers as possible.
